Children are admitted in September, at the beginning of the academic year in which they become five.
We welcome visits from parents interested in sending their children to our school. Please telephone the school to make an appointment.
We also provide opportunities for children to spend time in their new class. This gives them the chance to meet their contemporaries, to get to know their new teacher and to become familiar with the school. It is our policy that the class teacher will visit the child at home prior to admission.
Children transfer from Lower to Middle School at age 9 and from Middle to Upper School at age 13. Our school forms part of the Sharnbrook Pyramid and the majority of children transfer to Lincroft Middle School, a Sharnbrook Upper School feeder. A few pupils move to other schools in the area.
We aim to make the transfer to Middle School as smooth as possible by close liaison with Year 5 staff. During their last year in our school, children visit Lincroft Middle School for events such as a music and drama festival, science afternoon and sports events.
Prior to transfer, Year 5 teachers visit our school to meet the children and answer their questions. There are three transfer days in July, when children visit their new school and meet their teachers and children transferring from other Lower Schools.
In common with other schools in the Bedford Borough, we are consulting on becoming a primary school from 2017. We anticipate that pupils would then transfer to Sharnbrook at the age of eleven.
